Now that you have watched Kathryn's great introduction, I would like you to come up with a couple of introductions.
I will model an introduction for a topic so you have a better idea about what I am looking for in your introduction:
Example:
Topic: Tell us about the importance of drinking water.
Hook: Human bodies are 90% water at birth. In a grown-up person, this amount decreases to 70% which is still a fair amount of water. Keeping this in mind, it is easy to understand that it is important to keep our bodies hydrated at all times. (Thesis)
So in today's presentation, I am going to give you a little bit more background information on how much water a person should drink. Then I am going to discuss the health benefits of being well hydrated and finally, I am going to tell you about what those of you who don't like plain water can do to stay hydrated.
Now it's your turn: Try to come up with two introductions for the following topics. Don't forget to include a "hook".
Tell us about the most beautiful place you have ever seen.
Tell us about someone you could not live without.
When you are done, please continue to work on your "expert presentation".
Once you are done preparing your presentation, please feel free to check out some of the websites posted on the left (just not the "What Would You DO?" videos, please).
